Ok, enough introspection for now. In the immortal words of Yazz:
The only way is up. Baby. For you and me. Now.
I've been knitting my little fingers off. I handed about 30 items over to the school last week.
We have a random assortment of scarves, a couple of beanies, a couple of cuff to cuff baby jumpers, a dress (which I'm very proud of) and a set of doll's clothes. The jumpers and the dress are made from ends. For some reason when people are asked to donate yarn, they go for whatever odds and ends they have lying around. And goodness only knows where some of it was lying around as it stank to high heaven.
I have also made my first guerrilla knitting strike.
This is a fountain at the local shops that hasn't been switched on for months. I also stitched a number of other items around various poles, but those photos didn't come out. Still, it gives me a spark of joy every time I drive past them.
In other news, the witchlet has finally picked up the needles!I've been teaching her to knit on and off since she was about 5, but she's never really shown an interest and I didn't want to push her. I bought her a knitting kit for her birthday last week, and she's been home sick with a cold for the last couple of days. During that time, she has dived right into her knitting. She's still making little mistakes, but she is very proud of herself, and I'm proud of her too. She can't wait to make something special for her best friend.
And last but not least, Gabby from American Yarns is taking me on as a knitting teacher at her studio at Ferny Hills. Now I just have to hope that someone wants to take classes!
